I’ve been so largely in debt lately dearest [ ] that your letter has lain unanswered longer than was at all intended, tho so little to respond to in yr difficulties. I can now understand the intricacies of the law & by what rights justice so call’d can keep me in doubt so long when it is right that they should know as soon as right is found out- One thing I perfectly comprehend that you want & need that kind of help that [ ] me is in search of nothing A heavy failure here, has set [ ] me frantic_ many reduced to [ ] by it_ All seem to think it is very nearly the finishing strike to the prosperity of the old town_ to those who depend on the trade of this place_ I am very [ ] for the last week [ ] always
